Empowerment of Women

“Together we can change the world, one woman at a time,” resolves Joyce Lynn Peters, the Founder’s wife, who is at the center of UEMI’s ministry to women

There can be no empowerment of women sans a literacy program – is the conviction of UEMI

Biblical feminity empowers and strengthens women. Walking in this scriptural path, UEMI is working overtime to provide women with sustainable occupational resources, to eliminate hunger, poverty and insolvency.

Tailoring, pickle-making and other such projects aim to equip women with skills that help them to improve their living conditions and generate income for their families.

Joyce Lynn Peter is the wife of John Peter Kirubagaran, Founder of UEM. A director of United Evangelical Mission India herself, Joyce, as a leading pastor’s daughter, was strategically placed to see the incredible suffering women went through because of poverty, injustice, oppression and cruelty. After returning from the US with her husband, following the birth of their second son Joab, Joyce experienced a persistent burden for women – especially those whose morale was destroyed and dignity assaulted. Many were homeless and abandoned and had no self worth at all.

After encountering 15 such women with hopelessness, Joyce took her step in faith and UEMI’s women ministry took off in full steam.
