New Life Children Home – Bangalore
United Evangelical Mission has been involved in children's work for the past 6 years. Of India ’s 1.3 billion people, 578 million are children and youth. In Bangalore city alone the population is 5.7 million of which 52 thousand children are on the street, neglected by their parents, abandoned, and destitute. The New Life Children Home was started on 1st of May 1998 with 35 children at Indira Nagar in Bangalore . Presently we have 140 Children catered to by 11 UEMI staff members.
Residential School for Disabled Children - Tumkur
UEMI started a Residential School for the Disabled on March 1999 with 41 children at Tumkur. The School aims to improve the social competence and self-reliance. There are four special teachers providing the children the physiotherapy trainings, for hearing impaired and visually impaired children.
UEMI also has provided assisting aids and appliances such as artificial limbs, calipers, mobility aids, and activity aids. At present there are 84 children in our school among them 37 visually impaired, 25 hearing impaired; 7 orthopedically handicapped and 15 mentally challenged. Somewhere, somebody had to do something for these devastated children. Realizing that, UEMI rose up to meet the task, head on.
New Life Children Home - Kolar Gold Fields
There are 25 children tended to by 4 UEMI staff members in the New Life Children Home at KGF. Most of the children were rag-picker's children, living on the streets. They have now been provided with good clothes, food, shelter and education. They want nothing else.
New Life Children Home - Tarlupadu
There are 54 children in the New Life Children Home at Tarlupadu in Andhra Pradesh. Most of them are from the gypsy community.
New Life Children Home - Orissa
In Orissa we have 35 children. These children come from tribal families. Child sacrifice is predominant in Orissa and male children are sold to slavery due to poverty while the female children are sold to brothels.
New Life Children Home - Nagaland
The children admitted here were destitute and abandoned. These children are provided with the best education, shelter and clothing.
New Life Children Home – Trichy
There are 50 children in this Home. These children are orphans and semi- orphans and come from an impoverished background. They have been provided with food, shelter, clothes, and educational facilities. These children are given a lot of opportunity to discover and use their talents.
New Life Children Home for the hearing impaired and vocally challenged - Hosur
This is a special project with about 25 children who are physically challenged. Special faculty who are trained to handle these children are employed here and the children are taught sign language which is essential for communication and development. Special curriculum is designed for these children which helps them in their education.
