As a first step in the establishment of a CTC, UEMI identifies a suitable location. This calls for a detailed survey of a selected area from a number of perspectives that will enable UEMI to:
|
Identify people groups, |
|
Test their responsiveness to the Gospel |
|
Assess the suitability of the location for the holistic mission effort of the CTC and |
|
Develop relationships with other churches or agencies that may be in the vicinity |
This is followed by the selection of a suitable person to manage the affairs of the local CTC. The prospective correspondent is essentially theologically trained, experienced in mission, identifies with UEMI’s goals and is prepared to work in all honesty and with full integrity. Once that is done, with the help of the newly appointed correspondent, other suitable students are chosen through scrutiny of application forms and intensive interviews.
Orientation:
The selected candidates are brought together in an orientation seminar where they are inculturated into the vision, policy and working methods of UEMI.
Implementation:
The twelve persons selected are trained for two years to become agents of transformation and social development.
Strategic operation plan for the first year : -The program begins with a one-month inculcation into the Bible, and a simultaneous study of evangelism and related subjects. -This is followed by a prolonged period on field during which theoretical knowledge is practically implemented as students practice methods of personal evangelism, child evangelism, and conducting family surveys. They also get involved in Literacy Centers, Bible Studies, Prayer Fellowships, Gospel Meetings and the distribution of tracts to spread the Gospel in theareas they work.
The second year: The student missionaries are trained to become agents of transformation and socio-economic development in the community. Thirty beneficiaries receive training in literacy skills, hygiene and learn how to support themselves. Skills, like candle making, detergent powder making, incense stick making, photo lamination, cross stitch, liquid blue making, phenol making, etc. are imparted to these 30 grass root level people, so that they may start micro-enterprises which make them and their church self sufficient in the days and years to come.
