TALITHA CUMI has empowered 25 such women today, who are presently being trained to use their skills to make pickles, ceramic pots and vases, glass paintings, scented or perfumed candles, note books and designer stationery and apparels. The women have proved faithful, industrious, teachable and flexible minded to adapt to training for new skills. They had to undergo personal training in health and hygiene. Six of such women come from a non-Christian background. Seeing the love and sense of belonging exhibited towards them at TALITHA CUMI, they voluntarily rejected all other Gods and accepted Jesus as their personal Savior. Today they regularly go through counseling. They have three nutritious meals a day. They help each other and take turns in cooking and washing clothes and keeping their work and living places clean. They truly enjoy the company of each other. Having mastered their respective skills, they have the freedom to move to greener pastures, but not one has thought of leaving because of the love experienced in TALITHA CUMI.
During various training sessions, they have learned to make perfumed candles, 10 varieties of pickles with the brand name of Josh pickles which rapidly became a household name.
These women are offered counseling, training, housing, food and a basic salary. Their children’s education is subsidized or as in most cases provided completely free. The products manufactured are marketed locally and the profits are used to pay the rent, gas, electricity and water bills of their home. A part of the profits is re-invested into the organisation for continued production, marketing and advertisement.
Call of commitment:
The TALITHA CUMI women have committed their lives to God, and work by strict values including:
|
A high level of integrity and accountability |
|
A commitment to use all funds for the purpose proposed and designated |
|
To share and pass on training skills |
|
To reunite broken families wherever there is even the slightest glimmer of hope |
|
To introduce every new woman who joins the organisation to Jesus Christ |
|
To work to bring glory and honor to His Name |
Unceasing Creativity:
It’s difficult to call a halt to a creative enterprise. ‘Josh Attires’ is a privately owned company, functioning under the leadership of UEM Founder John Peter Kirubagaran. This manufacturing cum exporting of woven garments company is the brain child of John & Joyce Lynn Peter Kirubagaran,
The story of how it came into being is enthralling. A run-down tailoring unit was purchased, reset and revived and it was not long before production set into fiery action. This provided a new arm for revenue to support TALITHA CUMI.
For these women, the painful past has become a distant shadow. The new life provided to them by TALITHA CUMI has filled their maps with the hope and promise of tomorrow, with hearts that joyfully sing – “We are new creations, no more in condemnation, here in the grace of God we stand…”
Marketing Wings of a Dove:
The women have also learnt how to market their products through ‘J & J Exports, a licensed and registered company. This provides the organisation with further employment and business growth. ‘ J & J Exports’ also synergises with other bodies to promote other products locally by the women of TALITHA CUMI.
UEMI believes this is how the Lord wants to see women – happy, empowered, nourishing the earth.
