The Lay-A-Brick Program

The desperate need of many hungry, illiterate Indian children sowed the seed for UEMI’s children’s homes and later on a school. One step at a time, our founder and the staff he gathered around him toiled to set up the first children’s home at Bangalore in a rented building. Feeling the need to educate these children, the school was started in another rented building with just 35 students. Today the school boasts 535 children who come from the surrounding areas and attend school together with the children from the children’s home. The children from the streets and the higher strata come together in perfect harmony, blending as one in a desire to learn.

As the numbers grow, the need to have a school building has become imperative. But the financial costs are mind-boggling. Where and how do we raise this money? We can do it, but how? By laying one brick at a time, you can help us raise this edifice. The cost of laying just ONE BRICK is $2, which covers the cost of the brick, cement, sand, steel, stones and labor.

Will you help us to give these little ones a good education and a better life?

Humanitarian Relief

Partnership with Orphan Grain Train and Global Aid International Germany

The partnership with Orphan Grain Train and Global Aid International Germany began after the Tsunami tidal waves destroyed parts of South India. During the first year after the Tsunami, the focus was on giving relief packages to the Tsunami victims and survivors. In the second year the focus shifted to rehabilitation and since then we have been involved in developmental work for children and women.

The Partnership with Gain International Germany is enabling 50 out of 175 children in Kallar to receive sponsorship funding. Another 50 children are awaiting sponsorship from different children projects.

We receive humanitarian relief containers from Gain International Germany and Orphan Grain Train, USA with humanitarian relief items such as food, school supplies and medical aids to help the needy in India. We have a network of organizations that help distribute these items to the most deserving people in India. Through our ministry partners, giving to our Humanitarian Relief Fund enables us to give more.

Short-Term Missions and Conferences

At least once a year, UEMI sponsors a mission trip to India in which we serve and observe the work being done there. Participants raise funds for their own travel, but funds are needed for the work they do while they are there. Your gifts to this effort are appreciated.
