In 87 out of 88 times it is used in the Bible, the word “leaven” carries with it a negative implication. In only one case – Matthew 13:33 – leaven is positive. The Lord Jesus speaks of the Kingdom of God being “full of leaven.” Yeast, or leaven, is a powerful fungus that can cause a lump of dough to rise into bread.

Through CTCs, we turn community leaders into Kingdom leaven. These leaders in turn cause their community to rise up to Kingdom living The CTCs combine biblical principles and traditional church support equip local faith leaders and organisations to carry out community development and social service projects. This facilitates new relationships and permanent sustaining solutions to human problems.

The Bible refers to this as being “the salt of the earth”. Or Kingdom leaven.
