Every once in a while, people involved in various ministries feel the need to come together and see what’s happening in the world outside their windows. They yearn to learn how they can personally, professionally, spiritually and emotionally enhance themselves. UEMI who never misses a single opportunity to be a blessing, organized different conferences where speakers from the USA and India came and shared from the Word of God and their own lives.

November was one hectic month for UEMI. Various conferences were organized for Pastors and CTC missionaries, women in ministry and for the passionate youth.

A conference for the CTC Missionaries and Pastors was held on 8 and 9 of November 2007 at Bangalore. Around one hundred Missionaries and Pastors from various CTC’s in India attended this conference. Rev. Dr. Don Miles, President, UEM International, was the chief guest of the conference along with Rev. Dr. Fred Bahr, Rev. Dar Karsten, Rev. Bob Duddleston, Rev. Marty Meyer, Rev. Rob Meyer, Mr. Kirk Peterson, Treasurer UEMI, Mr. Nathan Carlson and Mr. Myron Charas were also an important part of the conference. Mr. Myron Charas spoke on the theme, “He that Winneth Souls is Wise”. IELC Synod Presidents of Ambur and Trivandrum attended the conference. On 9 November, 10 students of the Nagercoil CTC graduated and received certificates from Rev. Dr. Don Miles and were encouraged to continue to be faithful to God, His calling and His word.

Godly Wisdom for Generation Next

The Fest for Youth 2007 was conducted on the 8 and 9 of November 2007 at Guru Nanak Bhavan, Bangalore. The theme of the conference was “Go into the entire world, Every Tribe, Every One”. The focus of this conference was to encourage and empower the youth to take the word of God to their un-reached neighbors and friends. Five Hundred youth from Mainline and non-denominational churches attended this conference and were greatly blessed.

Rev. Martin Meyer was the key speaker of this conference. He stressed the importance of spreading the Gospel and explained the various mission needs in India. Ms. Joyce Lynn Peters shared the importance of having a relationship with God. Rev. Jacob Isaac, CEO of Kerygma, spoke on Resisting Temptation. The participating churches entertained the audience with choreography and skits. The conference ended with a music competition showcasing the talents of various churches. The youth conference was very challenging and many young people committed themselves to serve the Lord as missionaries in North India.

Women Power

A conference for women was held on 8 and 9 November 2007 at the Holy Ghost Parish Hall, Bangalore. Three hundred Women from various churches participated in the conference. The conference was inaugurated by Ms. Judith Miles. Speakers from the US and from home town Bangalore, spoke on the theme, “Gifted to Serve”. Praise and worship sessions and choreography were presented by various teams from the local churches. Ms. Joycelyn Peters spoke on how Jesus turned water into wine. The candlelight ceremony was a grand finale to the conference. As Ms. Judith Miles sang the closing song “Carry your candle”, the speakers with their candles moved among the delegates and lit their candles. This symbolized a spirit of unity, as God’s children, spreading the light of Christ.

While the women’s lives were being enriched at the conference, their children, about 150 of them, were taught songs, bible verses and craft work at Vacation Bible School.
