Inauguration of Community Development Child Care Center at Balur –Ambur

On 7 th January, 2007, a Community Development Child Care Centre was inaugurated in Balur in the presence of Indian Evangelical Lutheran Church leaders, pastors and the community people. Rev. Raja Gambiran, President IELC, Rev. Dr. Herbert Hoefer from USA and John Peter Kirubagaran – Director of UEM addressed the gathering, specially thanking the sponsors who made the project possible. However, it should be mentioned that only 42 out of the 100 children of the centre received sponsorship. We urge you to pray for the remaining children to be sponsored in the immediate future, and also for the holistic development of all the children in this program. It was heartening to see the wholesome participation of the entire community in this inaugural function.

UEM and LLC envisions a future filled with the promises and love of Christ

The Community Development Care Centre in Sri Lanka has been a blessing to numerous children. On 1st February, 2007, all the children enrolled under the Community Development Program were invited to the Lanka Lutheran Church along with their parents. On this occasion the children were blessed financially. This monthly monetary assistance will continue till December 2007.

Around 50 children benefit due to this program. And plans are underway for permanent accommodation and admission to schools of this children. UEMI is also preparing to start a New Life Children’s Home in Srilanka by January 1st, 2008, in partnership with the governing body of the Lanka Lutheran Church. Currently, the children have to undergo great hardships to attend a school in distant tea estates across a hill. Once the New Life Children’s Home is established the children will have an opportunity to live and study in a serene and loving environment with no physical discomfort. The Community Development Program caters to the educational and physical needs of these children. The parents of these children have expressed gratitude for the manner in which their children are cared for.
